EVANGELIST, Apostle, beloved disciple of Jesus, model and patron of all who, loving God from their youth, persevere into old age. St. John died a very old and holy man. His symbol is the eagle. He is patron of Asia Minor, Turkey, also of bookbinders, poison sufferers. His feast is December 27.
